A list of forms needed in Alabama to help Humanitarian Refugees (Newcomers) from Ukraine. This information can and will change. Work with your state/local refugee organization to ensure proper forms, instructions, and details.

For Families with Children

Medicaid provides free or low-cost health coverage to eligible needy persons.

This program enables low-income families to buy nutritious food through Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards.

Part 1 – Temporary Cash Assistance

(Family Assistance Program)

Provides temporary cash assistance for basic needs for low income families with children under age 18 or age 19 if s/he is a full time student in a secondary school or in the equivalent level of vocational or technical training. Assistance is issued on Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards. 

Part 2 – Work and Job Training Services

(The JOBS Program)

Provides work and training services to all parents receiving cash assistance to help find and retain employment.

Single Adults & Families Without Children (Coming Soon)

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services can be confusing to navigate, I hope this helps! Please verify all forms, processes, addresses, and information are up to date by looking at the USCIS website and/or talking to your legal counsel BEFORE completing any forms. This information was added in December 2022 and may not be up to date.

I highly recommend filing the I-912, I-765, and E-Notification together.
If you file these together you MUST mail all 3 forms together. You can NOT submit the online forms – it is not allowed.

Form I-912: Request for Fee Waiver
This form will waive the $499 application fee for I-765 Work Authorization.

Form I-765: Work Authorization
This form allows you to work legally in the United States and can be used to request a Social Security Number at the same time. NOTE: You do NOT have to wait for this form to be approved, you can begin work immediately according to this article.
